Autism & the gut

Last night’s World Tonight on Radio 4 got rather excited about a possible new urine test which will be able to detect autism in young babies. Mysteriously (to me) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the urine will reveal the presence of metabolic gut flora which are thought to be implicated in the development of the disease.

Well we can only hope. But how interesting that the gut after all may be involved, even if it is not through the influence of the measles virus
